The 2014 Porsche 911 GT3 (We’ll take two!)

475 horsepower. 9,000 RPM. Flat-six. Rear-wheel steering(!). The aforementioned statistics is exactly what the 2014 Porsche 911 GT3 is all about. The GT3 is setting the bar high for all others to follow, with Porsche’s 7-speed Doppel-Kupplunggetriebe (PDK) automatic transmission. Zero to 60 in three and a half seconds is sure to get your adrenaline flowing and if that doesn’t, the 195-mph top speed will.

Record-Breaking Ice Run!

Several cars these days can hit 200 mph — no problem. Look at the Corvette ZR1, any Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren and others and you’ll see. But when you throw ice into the equation, it’s a different story. Nokian Tires threw some winter treads onto an Audi RS6, brought to an ice track and launched — all the way to 209 miles an hour. Check out the video below for some record-breaking driving.

The New 2014 Jaguar F-Type!

The new 2014 Jaguar F-Type will have three models, beginning with an F-Type, F-Type S and the F-Type V8 S, ranging from $69,000 to $92,000. These built-for-speed machines will sprint from 0-60 in anywhere from 4.2 – 5.1 seconds and have an option between a supercharged 3.0L V6 and a supercharged 5.0L V8. If that hasn’t convinced you yet, than listen to this: the F-Type comes stock with 340 horses, the F-Type S will have 380 and the F-Type V8 S will fly past you with a mind blowing 495 horsepower!

Jeff Gordon’s Test Drive

Ever go to a car dealership, test drive a car and be scared to “give it a little gas”? You want to make sure you know how the car responds to how you’re going to drive it, right? NASCAR legend Jeff Gordon & Pepsi bring you this video where he test drives a Camaro, but he more than test drives it–that’s for sure! Check out this video, where he goes undercover as “Mike” and takes this unsuspecting salesman on the ride of his life!

UPDATE: Despite this video being fake, it is still amusing nonetheless.

Tunnel-looping SLS!

I visited a Mercedes-Benz dealership yesterday just to check out some of the cars there and I spoke to a salesperson who told me to look up this pretty neat video of a Mercedes SLS looping a tunnel — I get home to check it out and my jaw-dropped. This is one amazing video and an incredible amount of talent must’ve gone into this! We only wish we could’ve been there to see it ourselves!

REVIEW: 2013 Volkswagen CC

One of Volkswagen’s slogans is: “Better engineering for you.” With that said, Volkswagen has been using “better engineering” to make their cars faster, lighter, more fuel-efficient and safer. Their sole purpose is to make all these things happen at once while producing something fun to drive. We were able to take advantage of the opportunity to drive the 2013 Volkswagen CC thanks to East Coast Volkswagen in Englewood Cliffs, NJ.

We have many friends that drive Volkswagens and hardly ever hear a bad word about the car or brand name. Going into this test drive we had pretty good expectations, and having never driven a CC before, we came out of it pleasantly surprised. From the design of the car to the smooth ride, the CC was very impressive.

With a 2.0L turbocharged I4 and 200-hp, the CC made its presence known on the road. Going from 0-60 in 6.9 seconds, the 6-speed DSG automatic transmission with Tiptronic and sport mode made the shifts very easy and smooth.

The CC had very bright Bi-Xenon headlights and nicely designed LED day time running lights as well as LED tail lights. The Premium VIII sound system with HD Radio which included 8 speakers, 6-disc CD changer and an SD memory card reader had very good sound quality and was very easy to use.

Pros: Acceleration in the car was great–the turbo makes a huge difference. The trunk was very spacious and we liked the idea of pushing in the VW emblem to open the trunk lid. The touch screen radio was very modern and easy to use. The sport mode was a lot of fun to use as it shifted through gears just like a manual transmission.

Cons: Even though the base model CC comes with many options, we feel for the price it should come with just a couple more.

Ever see the BMW Films?

Did you even know films “starring” BMW’s existed? Featuring the likes of the 740i, 540i, Z4, M5 and others and starring the likes of Forest Whitaker, Mickey Rourke, Madonna, James Brown, Danny Trejo and others, the BMW Films (“The Hire“) are videos that need to be added to your bucket list!

The BMW Films are a series of eight short films (about 10 minutes each) starring Clive Owen as “The Driver”. He is hired by various clients to provide transportation that meets their needs. Each film has a separate director ranging from John Frankenheimer, Ang Lee, Guy Ritchie, Tony Scott and others — but the adrenaline is non-stop and the videos are action packed!

My personal favorite is “Ambush”–directed by John Frankenheimer and “starring” the 740i–where he is tasked with driving a man with diamonds to an undisclosed location. To see the end result and some high-stakes driving, be sure to watch the video (and the rest of the films) below!
